Baby G is no longer sick and the bad cough seems to have gone away. We were so used to it we didn’t quite realize what day she had stopped coughing… However, our week was not uneventful!
Tuesday morning Baby G’s preschool teacher left a message on my phone that went something like: Baby G fell on the playground, busted her upper lip, there was a lot of blood and now we (the teachers) think her teeth may have a crack in them. Yikes! Sight unseen I called Daddy G who made an emergency appointment with the dentist. So after work I took Baby G to the dentist…. They started with an x-ray. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! She screamed and screamed. And I’m sure the images were totally useless. Saw the dentist almost immediately who told me that the teeth were not broken or cracked. The line on her tooth: actually weakened enamel. So no more juice or food with lots of sugar at home. Oh and by the way, her teeth growing in at an angle: no more pacifier. WHAT?! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? Nope. Dentist was so serious. So no more pacifier.
Well, almost no pacifier. We started the weaning process at his instructions:
- Threw away all but 1 pacifier.… we saved 2.
- poked a hole in remaining pacifiers for the first night
- clipped the nipple about 1/2 cm the second night
After that clipping, Baby G was devastated. She kept repeating “Oh no. Oh no. Paci. Oh no!” in a rather heartbreaking tone. The last couple of nights she has cried herself to sleep clutching the remaining pacifiers in her hands. I was a little concerned about taking away her only “security blanket” so last night I stayed in her room until she fell asleep and bed time seemed to go a little better. Today, we went to the store and got a real security blanket…or at least its advertised as a security blanket. She hasn’t put it down yet. But mostly because she has wrapped dolly into it….
So that’s what happened there. To add to all this.
A week ago today we started serious potty training. Saturday was messy, messy. Sunday 1 accident. Monday with the 14 year old baby sitter no accidents!!! She’s still in a pull up at night but has been dry most mornings. Pretty exciting! We’ve probably bought our last box of diapers.
This is what we’ve been up to otherwise. Making juice and starting my birthday early! Nothing like drawing it out . In the picture below you can kind of see the swollen upper lip from the fall. Poor girl.
Green wrapping.
Daddy’s helper.
Stay tuned!
