Can you say “Wow!” I survived my first midterm week ever! This is the first time in my academic career, outside of finals, that I have had 5 exams in one week. Mike had 3 exams this week. So that brings it to 8 exams. We lived! To celebrate we went bowling on Thursday night was several of my classmates. Mike got the chance to meet some of them. And this weekend, Mike’s younger brother, Dan, got married as well as our friends, Justin and Katie.
Friday was a very busy day. Mike’s Aunt Kathy from Missouri arrived in the morning just as Mike was leaving for his final exam of the week. Said a quick hi and then they were both off. Mike to school and Kathy to visit her brother, my father-in-law. And I got to clean the house! In the afternoon we went to the church for the wedding rehearsal which was all set up in the prayer garden of the church. Very intimate and serene little place.
Mike took a little jog in the garden. And hit a dead-end so he had to come back. Mike and his brother were groomsmen. They even got buttons, in case they forgot their role.
Alyssa’s bridesmaids. The two on the right are Alyssa’s sisters. Both beautiful young women, inside and out.
A wedding rehearsal is such a serious business. Alyssa looks on with her mother on the left and her paternal grandmother behind her.
Mike and Chris take a moment to discuss something important…
And that was the rehearsal. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by my in-laws, Matt and Kim at their house. Dinner was from Julios, a Mexican restaurant. Really delicious! Alyssa’s aunt wrote a song for the two of them and Alyssa’s sister and the aunt sang for all of us. And it was Chris’s birthday! (Almost, his birthday is next week. But he’ll be back in California by then.)
Mike’s Aunt Liz and Grandma Lois.
So this is still Friday night. Mike and I stop by Katie and Justin’s reception as they are having a private ceremony today with just their family. Mike helped Justin make some firewood.
Good night, Friday!
The morning of Dan’s wedding (10/10, Saturday), Aunt Kathy treated Dan, Mike, and I to breakfast at Cherubini. And then Kathy and I went for a manicure and pedicure!
Family started to arrive at the ceremony site around 3. This was the first wedding that Kimi was able to go to and we are so happy that she came. Dan and Alyssa decided not to see each other before the ceremony and as Dan was watching her come down the aisle, he was quaking in his shoes!
What beautiful ceremony!
:) Wow what a weekend!
